Douglas County Hospital is a 127-bed acute care hospital serving approximately 150,000 people in west central Minnesota. Located in the heart of Minnesota’s lake country, the hospital is classified as a Medicare Rural Referral Center and Sole Community Hospital. Douglas County Hospital is an essential community resource, providing a wide range of primary care and specialty services including: orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, general surgery, OB/GYN, pediatrics, pain management, spine surgery, podiatry and hospitalist program. The hospital also has specialized programs in radiation oncology, medical oncology and kidney dialysis. Alexandria Clinic has approximately 200 employees with two locations; Alexandria and Osakis. The clinic has 39 board certified providers in the following multi-specialty areas: Express Care, family practice, family nurse practitioners, general thoracic & vascular surgery, hospitalist, internal medicine, midwifery, OB/GYN, otolaryngology, pediatrics, podiatry, and urology. Heartland Orthopedic Specialists:
Heartland Orthopedic Specialists, a department of Douglas County Hospital, is located on the first floor of the Douglas County Hospital and is dedicated to providing state of the art surgical and non-surgical orthopedic care in the areas of trauma, sports medicine, and elective reconstructive surgery. They have a team of six board certified orthopedic surgeons and a board certified podiatrist that provide world-class orthopedic care right here in west central Minnesota. Along with Physician Assistants, Physical Therapists, and Athletic Trainers, Heartland Orthopedic Specialists meets diverse orthopedic needs, specializing in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of Musculoskeletal system conditions. Such conditions include bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles, injuries involving the hand/wrist, upper & lower extremities, sports medicine related injuries, joint replacements, foot/ankle, and arthroscopic surgeries. In addition, physicians travel to satellite locations such as ACMC in Willmar, Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, Prairie Medical Associates in Morris, and Appleton Municipal Hospital to provide outreach care.
